bird dreams

a finch lands on my hand
fun-foots along my finger
I want to move
but my mouth is full
with colour

she is redolent
with skies baptism
trembling petrichor
to my toes

I leave wet like she
and my spine bends
like a bow

I search for her nape
but find my knees
and like light
she escapes me

my look falls
several stories south
a peacock
flutes by
fans his feathers
across Ohio
holding up the eyes of the universe

a lobe of sadness
sighs lost demons and thought gods
there is so much sky

to be seen
