Brumal

Ice drips minuets. Cold choirs: boot crunch, pine
bones. Neighborhood boys crank the kettles

of engines. Grease rags, car parts, bass notes
and drums: weld pound metal clang.

Stutter breath, exhaust, asphalt mist.
The snow moon preens, shy light, shrouded.
