Elena Barcia was born and raised in Los Angeles. Her translation of Miguel de Unamuno’s classic novel Niebla (Fog) was published by Northwestern University Press in 2017. Her poetry translations have appeared in multiple journals including Poetry International and The Harvard Review. Her translation of Malú Urriola’s Cadáver exquisito (Exquisite Corpse) was published in 2023, and a selection of poems by Chilean poet Rosabetty Muñoz, titled Nothing Like Paradise, will be issued by Northwestern University Press in 2026.
