Juan Carlos (Mestre Villafranca del Bierzo, Spain, 1957) is a poet, essayist, and graphic artist with numerous books to his name. He has won numerous awards, including the 1985 Premio Adonáis, the 1992 Premio Jaime Gil de Biedma, the 2009 Premio Nacional de poesía, and the 2012 Premio de la Crítica de poesía castellana, and the 2017 Premio Castilla y León de las Letras.
